A Brief History of Santhi Bhavan Aged Home

Santhi Bhavan Aged Home was established with a compassionate vision to provide a safe, caring, and dignified home for elderly men who are in need of support, companionship, and care.

Located at Puthukudiyiruppu Road, Achampadu, Tirunelveli, Santhi Bhavan has grown as a place where elderly people can live with dignity, peace, and a sense of belonging. The home provides essential day-to-day care, food, accommodation, medical support, and emotional companionship to its residents.

Over the years, Santhi Bhavan has continued its service through the support of generous individuals, charitable organisations, clubs, well-wishers, and members of the community. Their contributions have helped the home meet the everyday needs of its residents and improve the facilities available to them.

The home also seeks to respond to the changing needs of elderly residents by developing better facilities, medical transportation, basic infrastructure, and a peaceful environment for prayer and community life.

Today, Santhi Bhavan Aged Home continues its mission of serving elderly people with love, compassion, dignity, and respect, believing that every elderly person deserves care, security, and a place they can call home.

About the Founder

Fr. Shiji George, MA, MSW

Founder & Owner — Santhi Bhavan Aged Home
“To serve the elderly with love and compassion, and to ensure that no elderly person who is in need of care feels abandoned or alone.”

Fr. Shiji George, MA, MSW, is the founder and owner of Santhi Bhavan Aged Home. Originally from the state of Kerala, he came to Tamil Nadu with a deep desire to serve people who are poor, vulnerable, and in need of care and support.

By the grace of God, Fr. Shiji George started Santhi Bhavan with a heart filled with love, compassion, and concern for the elderly. His vision was especially inspired by the situation of many elderly people who have no family members or anyone to look after them. Santhi Bhavan was therefore established as a place where such elderly people could find a safe home, loving care, dignity, companionship, food, and support. The home strives to treat every resident with respect and kindness, regardless of their circumstances.

His commitment to social service and his desire to care for the poor and needy continue to guide the work of Santhi Bhavan. Through God's grace and the support of generous well-wishers and donors, the home continues its mission of bringing hope, peace, and dignity to elderly people in need.
